Causes

Inefficiencies

Even though farms produce more than enough food crops to feed the world, too many of these crops are used inefficiently...

  • as animal feed - farm animals eat more food than they produce,
  • as biofuel - burned for energy (which is not a scalable alternative to fossil fuels),
  • and in food that goes to waste (or spoils due to improper storage)

As a result, there isn't enough to go around.
