Coal pollution mitigation
Coal pollution mitigation, often marketed as "clean coal", is a set of processes to reduce some of the pollution of coal power.
This does not reduce CO2 emissions.
It reduces other pollutants:
- Gases that cause acid rain
- Sulfur dioxide (SO2)
- Nitrogen oxides (NOx)
- Toxic metals
- Mercury
(...)( "up to" 95% reduction, according to some sources. This page needs more research to estimate how much of a problem the other 5% (...)( or more than 5%, if it turns out that the previously stated "95% reduction" is just an uncommon best-case scenario ) would be. )
- Mercury
