Myth: "Crypto mining is not a problem if it's done with green energy."

Fact: Green energy is in extremely short supply. Using it for crypto mining means there's less available for other domains, which end up using fossil fuels instead.

  • Note: There are a handful of exceptions to this, in places where there's an overabundance renewable electricity generated and absolutely no other way to use it(...)( nor store it, nor connect it to some other geographic area that could use it ). Actual situations like this are quite rare. Even where they exist, we still haven't accounted for the energy needed to manufacture the vast amounts of electronics(...)( many of which are chips that could be used for other purposes ) used for the mining. Also, all forms of crypto mining will increase the mining-difficulty on the global network, which means that in other areas, more fossil fuels are used in mining same amount of currency.
