Wiki for a better world:Bias

From the change wiki

We're biased.

We're biased to the left.

We agree with the goals of socialism. We want a world where everyone has a roof over their heads and enough to eat. A world where jobs don't suck, and people can work less and even be "lazy" if they want to. A world where the environment isn't being wrecked. We're willing to put the effort into planning how this could actually materially work.

We're biased to the right.

Because sometimes the free market can still help in making a better world.

And because in some cases, individual choices are the main cause of certain problems, and "voting with your dollar" might actually help, instead of only blaming the rich. And when businesses "cut corners", in some cases it's actually better for people and the environment, and we should admit that.

We have an anarchist bias.

Because existing institutions have failed to offer good solutions to the world's problems. Bureaucracies aren't listening to valid considerations from common people (or when they do, it's buried in 50-page documents or misrepresented by journalists).

We must do better, and open-source is the way.

We have a top-down bias.

Because the world's problems are too intertwined to be solved separately one-by-one. We need a proper blueprint for change.

We're biased to the center.

We're willing to admit when both sides of a war are commiting human rights violations.

We're biased against the center.

Because f*** anyone who tries to equivocate good with evil.

We have a globalist bias.

Because nationwide socialism ain't gonna help much when most inequality is between nations (as opposed to within nations).

And because climate change is a real problem and we'd like to help solve it.

We have a localist bias.

Because there's not a one-size-fits-all solution for everything.

We have a pro-tech bias.

Technology can help decarbonize energy to stop climate change - as long as the tech is actually scalable and not prohibitively expensive.

We have an "anti-tech bias".

We're against planned obsolescence.

We're anti-work.

Most of today's job market is harmful to workers, and doesn't contribute positively to society anyway. Elie did more for society by being unemployed (taking the time to build the foundations of this wiki) than he ever could have done by having a job.

We're pro-work.

It takes a certain amount of labor to produce & maintain all the things that people need. We like to quantify this labor. P.S. It's a lot less labor than the status quo, which is why a better world is possible where people work less, even without A.I.

We're woke.

We're against racism, homophobia, transphobia, slut-shaming, victim blaming, and toxic masculinity (but not all masculinity). We support having trigger warnings (this wiki needs more tbh).

We're willing to admit when old cultural norms are harmful and should change.

We're "redpilled".

Because modernity has caused loneliness. And because single men are being shamed for not being rich enough. And because every once and awhile, you should get off the internet, go outside, touch grass, workout, and train hard (if you can).

What???

If all of this feels like a giant contradiction to you, then you have a lot to learn. Welcome to this wiki, and enjoy the ride!
