Redirect unwanted food from businesses

In developed countries, businesses waste an extreme amount of food - far more than what it would take to feed all the local poor people.

What could be done with all the food that businesses currently waste?

• Donate it to local food banks and homeless shelters (until their food supply is "saturated").
• Offer it for free/cheap to everyone & anyone in the neighborhood.
  • This would of course be seen as "competition" against the businesses that wasted the food in the first place. To overcome their resistance, we might need to...
    • Make it illegal for businesses to waste food
    • Hand out the food at some location that's fairly far away from the business
• Convert the food into some sort of shelf-stable food product to be shipped overseas as food aid.

Next steps / collective actions we can take

• Design some sort of organization that would do any of the above. ^{[DISCUSSION needed]}
• Design a political campaign to enable the creation of such an organization. ^{[DISCUSSION needed]}
