Sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) is an extremely potent greenhouse gas. Its main use is in the switching stations of power grids. Other minor uses include the gas inside tennis balls.

Research needed

  • How much more SF6 would be involved if electrify everything is the main way to replace fossil fuels?
  • Are there practical solutions to avoid almost all SF6 emissions? If so, what are they?
